The Education Grant refers to financial support offered by the JCPD to its clients for educational purposes. The maximum of the grant is Fifty Thousand Jamaican Dollars (JMD $50,000).

Eligibility:

  1. To access the Education Grant, applicants must ensure that:
  2. Be registered with the JCPD.
  3. The applicant must be enrolled in an Educational Institution.
  4. Applicants must be between the ages of 4 and 18 years old attending an early childhood institution, Primary School or High School.
  5. Applicants attending a new school are required to submit an acceptance letter from the Institution.
  6. Applicants over 18 years’ old pursuing post-secondary short courses or vocational training of a duration not exceeding eighteen (18) months may apply.
  7. Applicants must provide an invoice from the Educational Institution for applications for tuition support.
  8. Applicants requesting support for school supplies must provide an invoice from a Stationery Store.
  9. Caregiver/Parent should be unemployed or earning no more than the national minimum wage as determined by the Government of Jamaica.

JCPD’s roles and responsibilities 

The JCPD’s Officer is to ensure that the following documents are current and are submitted upon application for this grant. 

  1. Completed Grant Application Form
  2. Invoice no older than three (3) months
  3. Proof of payment in the form of a receipt where the request is greater than Fifty Thousand Jamaican Dollars (JMD $50,000.00.)
  4. Most recent School Report
  5. Acceptance letter for applicants attending a new educational institution. 
Who can apply?

Persons with disabilities or Caregivers of persons with disabilities registered with the JCPD, enrolled in, or attending an educational institution can apply for this grant. Caregivers can only apply for an education grant for the person with disability whom they are caring for.
